Warning For Those Who Own. A Vehicle That Has Electronic Key Fobs !!!

I saw a story on the news this morning about a warning for people who have vehicles that use electronic key fobs to start them. They are finding that thieves are using wire to hack into the electronics before they steal the vehicles. If you see someone standing up near a car and holding a wire out above their head, that is how they do it. They went on to say that key fobs should be store in faraday bags to keep potential thieves from hacking them. Especially important if you park your vehicles outdoors overnight instead of in a locked garage.

Fortunately I found a 4-pack of these faraday bags at the discount store about 3 weeks ago…got them for $1 thinking I might have a good use for them. And now I do. These bags are also good to hold credit, debit, health and other important cards to keep them from being hacked into by people who may be holding a handheld device near where you are standing (stores, gas stations, airports, malls, etc) I have had my cards in an RFID wallet for nearly 2 years after someone hacked into my insurance card and got themselves a free eye exam and pair of glasses using my insurance card information. I believe it happened when I was waiting in a medical building waiting to get pre-surgery x-rays and a cardiogram. The very next day someone took my eye insurance information and got their eyes checked & glasses. I only knew about when I received information in the mail from my insurance company telling me how much it paid and what wasn’t covered by insurance. They also tried to get free contact lenses, which the insurance didn’t pay for. I called the insurance company and told them it was a fraudulent case so they could investigate.

Yeah it's sad, whatever can be made to deter thieves, they will find another route to steal
