Should it be legal to shoot porch pirate caught in the act?

I have done it and gotten away with it - I only hit him in the arm (I think).
I also rigged a package that I just learned blew off another pirate's finger. LOL. I love it.🤣 I have this on security cam and I bet he knows it so he cant go to police.
