for a number of reasons which are understandable. I don't personally like him but he shouldn't be in prison for what happened.
@pancakeslam He shouldn't be in prison for murdering a guy?

@BohemianBabe
The whole point is they have conflicting evidence which wasn't presented at trial.

I don't know what people expect when they stubbornly resist arrest. If I did that and ended up incapacitated I would accept it's my fault. Dont fight with police as it can be lethal.

Also, they have additional evidence about lethal doses of fentanyl in his system.
@pancakeslam It wasn't just that he resisted arrest and was killed in the process. He was caught, held down, incapacitated, then Derek Chauvin needlessly put most of his bodyweight onto his knee, which was on Floyd's neck. There's no way that's acceptable.

@BohemianBabe yeah ideally the police can hold back but it was part of his job to subdue the guy. he did get carried away doing so but essentially he was doing his job. I don't like Chauvin and think he's not a good cop but yeah
@pancakeslam I'd say part of the job of the police is to, within reason, apprehend criminals without killing them. We need to hold cops to high standards. If we don't, we'll have even more bad cops who abuse their power. Remember, cops have killed innocent people, too. There have been cases of people calling the cops, then getting shot by the cops when they arrive. Pardoning Derek Chauvin would just normalize police abusing power.

@BohemianBabe yeah but other cases didn't get half the outage as this one although Floyd fought the police and they didn't
@pancakeslam Sure, because they weren't captured on camera. The best we can do is hold accountable those cops who do get caught.

@BohemianBabe so you consider Chauvin a danger to society who is as bad as a criminal who wantonly murdered someone? because I don't think that's the case as he just acted recklessly. negligence is what it was.
@pancakeslam Yeah, which is why he was charged with manslaughter. It was probably an accidental murder, but we still lock people up for that.
