What are your thoughts on the Luigi Mangione situation?

I think he's a hero, Luigi has my highest respect. What I want to happen after this trial is over is he either gets a short sentence in prison or he is found not guilty so he's let go. The system wants him to get the death sentence, so it's really about Luigi's lawyer and the jury saving him. We'll see if either justice prevails or fails from the corrupted system.

They're trying to make an example of him to make us afraid so we don't act out against the system like he did, but they're just making him look even more like a hero. They're legitimately afraid.

So you support vigilante justice? Where does it stop?

I agree that Mangione’s prosecution is overkill for a state murder. The federal charges are excessive. The last high profile case where that happened were the Rodney King cops, who faced federal charges after being acquitted on state charges. Were you against that, too? We have laws and a court system to formalize punishment and not make it auto popular opinion.

What should happen is better regulation of health insurance and limits on CEO pay, but I’m not holding my breath. We just elected a guy who is against that. Where were all these Gen Z Mangione fans on November 6? Not voting, or voting for Trump probably.

@LeopoldBloom Great points and I see where you're coming from. But the problem is that what should happen, like you mentioned, just won't happen. Everyone feels like they're just stuck in a hopeless situation, something was going to happen eventually. I'm not surprised Luigi allegedly killed that healthcare insurance CEO

Vigilante justice is wrong, yes. But unfortunately we live in a world where the rich and powerful have the freedom to exploit and hurt whoever they want. Luigi wanted to send a message, they heard it, the whole country and others heard it. Now they're afraid, now we've just got to see if this has any positive effect on things or things will be the same. No matter what happens next, Luigi had a point, the system is broken, something has to change

@LeopoldBloom They won't support vigilante justice when Trump starts doing it.
@JJones Can we say Luigi's actions were understandable, even if unacceptable in a civil society?
@DogMan It depends who "they" are. Trump's cult will gladly carry out vigilante justice if they think he approves of it.
