People have a bad habit of reading what they expect you to say instead of what is actually said.

I’m not anti-gun. There are times when a gun, which is designed to wound or kill, is appropriate, like in the case of defending oneself or others. Unlike a car, it has no other purpose than that. An assault weapon is designed to wound or kill a crowd of people , a situation that rarely comes up with civilians and isn’t what you described here.

There are actually people who own guns for defense, hunting. Some of my relatives were from bayou country, and growing up when visiting we knew not to touch the guns unless an adult was showing us how to use one.

But no one person had an arsenal. And none of the weapons I saw were being used for

And you can argue all you want that AR-15s aren’t machine guns. I say tell it to the kids in Uvalde.
