Death while in Police custody

Poll - Total Votes: 4
Yes I would get out of my vehicle
No I would not until he told me what he was arresting me for?
For my own personal safety I’d record everything that happened on my phone.

Here’s a question for everyone. Knowing that being pulled over by police for a minor infringement/violation can result in death from suffocation or shooting, would you feel safe getting out of your when ordered to do so by an officer who hasn’t told you when asked what his reason for pulling you over is?

It seems 100% of the deaths of members of public that occur during police arrests for minor violations are simply because the cop refuses to answer the simple question of
Officer what did I do wrong?

Sir you failed to stop
Sir you were driving erratically
Sir I believe you maybe under the influence
Sir….

Cops are not being taught how to de escalate a situation.
People should be able to be arrested for minor violations without being killed in the process.

Unless you have been in the shoes of a cop on a traffic stop realizing how dangerous it can turn very quickly im more than happy to shair a story.
State police pull a vehicle over for speeding the officer was on a motorcycle a passenger in the vehicle had a 12 ga shotgun blew the officer's face off the only thing holding the back of his head together was his helmet. This my father's first call working midnights as cop. Ive always held the opinion it is better to comply and have your day in court. Not all arrests are justified and not all cops are good i get that and honestly cops are too quick to shoot so if you want ensure your own safety just comply and have your day in court. Ive had my fair share of interactions with law enforcement 99% just want to go home in the physical and mental state they left home in.
Now if you want to talk about training and policy yes that needs to be addressed. Honestly mental health in law enforcement is seriously overlooked.

Seems if you live in America (I'm British) and even more especially if you are black, you would need to follow their instructions absolutely perfectly. Never make any sudden movement, verbally tell them exactly what you're doing before you do it and be especially respectful in every one of your responses. It doesn't seem like they are very safe people to be around.

I have never had a problem.
Mind you, I am a middle aged While male, who looks like he could work in a bank.
I am also in Canada.

I am currently arguing with someone on exactly the same issue. Police officers should treat anyone with respect and should not use their position and power to expect blind obedience.

Police officers should have some psychology training on how to de escalate and simply how to treat people (that are in distress).

No law states you have to get out of your car. Not everything an officer says is lawful. I would keep my doors locked and barely have my window down. I would stay in my vehicle.

it can be chilling I at least have "privilege" enough not to probably get killed
probably
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
Just goes to show dont argue with a police officer and do what you are told
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
@FragileHeart I just think in the western world people think they have too much to say and they think they are important, me I would actually be very polite to the police officer and do what I am being told what to do, afterwards if I did not like their actions against me I would submit a written complaint. Personally dont upset someone who can kill you and write up a story that sounds credible.
FragileHeart · 22-25, M
@Justenjoyit but it shouldn't be that way. Wouldn't you feel scared in that moment? Knowing very well your life belongs to them and that they have undeserved and unwarranted control over you.
This shit can traumatize people and it's not right.
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
@FragileHeart What has changed over the years nothing, as I say people of today think
they are important, it will never change so be wise and behave

@MarmeeMarch Ideally a trip to the police station shouldnt be required every time. And if the cops told you what they were stopping you for rather than being power hungry ass holes a trip to the police station should only be required about 50% of the time.

@MarmeeMarch Too many cops seem To be power hungry ass holes which tells me that police training and psychological evaluation needs to change with the times.
