Why does nobody understand what decrminalizing actually means.

It doesn't mean legalize. It doesn't mean it isn't against the law still. All it means is it isn't a criminal offense anymore. It still carries penalties

If you mean marijuana, scrap that idea in Canada. If you are talking harder drugs, like how Portugal decriminalized, it means to remove stigma, allow for drugs to be seen as a health issue instead of criminal. I don't know why it's so hard, either? Maybe it's from carries penalties?

@MethDozer I agree with you. I try not to look upon it as a moral issue, though society does, and instead see it as a health issue, but society loves to moralize those issues, so maybe it's the best way to reach people? If I bring up Cancer, many would see I am moralizing an issue, especially if I bring up drugs and it leads to a very similar sad end. To me, it's a health issue, only.

@SW-User It is a health issue and also a personal choice and sovereignty issue. I only see it as a moral issue on how we treat it as a criminal and moral failing issue. Our policies just make a devastating reality worse.

@MethDozer That's the only way I see it as a moral issue. How society treats. I don't think anyone wants the feeling of what a drug addict goes through. I do think money is an addiction issue though.

Laws against drugs are the dumbest and consume too much of tax money to reinforce

Meaning you’re not imprisoned. Some of the old pot and coke laws had people in prison for possession longer than folks who had killed somebody. 😳

@bijouxbroussard yep. Exactly it just means it doesn't go on your record or lands you im handcuffs. Yet everyone always seems it means legalization.
