What Would You Do For $5.2 Million?

This is a real story but it sounds like a ridiculous joke.

A fully grown woman had intercourse with her former romantic partner in his car in Missouri. She claimed that she contracted HPV, the human papillomavirus, as a result of having sex in his car. So, what did she do? She filed a claim against his car insurance company. The company told her to bug off but they went to arbitration. She was awarded $5.2 million!!

I suppose if she had gotten pregnant that the insurance company would have had to pay her medical bills and child support.

Missouri woman says she caught STD in car. Auto insurance to pay out $5.2 million
"KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Missouri Court of Appeals has affirmed that an insurance company must pay a $5.2 million settlement granted to a Jackson County woman who claimed she unwittingly caught a sexually transmitted disease from her former romantic partner in his car."

"In May 2021, the arbitrator found that the man and woman had sex inside his vehicle that “directly caused, or directly contributed to cause” the HPV infection. The man was found liable for not disclosing his infection status and the woman was awarded $5.2 million for damages and injuries to be paid by GEICO."

That is insane. There MUST be more to the story. Did she sue Gap for the jeans he was wearing too?

@Ynotisay The story was originally in the Kansas City Star but it has a paywall. The way it is written doesn't make any rational sense. She claims that she got the virus from having sex in his car? What's the proof? Why should the insurance company be liable for something like that anyway unless it can exercise control over everyone who gets into a vehicle insured by it? Using the logic in this incident anyone who ever gets shot while riding in an insured car should be able to get $millions in a settlement. After all, getting shot should be considered to be more harmful than getting an STD from screwing in the backseat, right?

Here's another version =
