Well-intentioned, but how is someone convicted of vehicular homicide doing years in prison going to pay? By the time they get out, the kids will be well into adulthood.

@cherokeepatti That could work depending on the person, but most addicted people I have met have such flawed lives that they don't have a pot to piss in, as the old-timers would say.

@MikeSp Alice Walton is an example of someone who caused the death of someone while she was drunk driving. Do you think someone like her should pay child support to the children of the deceased, if there were any children?
