If you could make any law what would it be?

Let’s say you could make any type of law come into effect. What would it be? And what would be the penalty for not following said law?

@SW-User Oh no the upsides are crystal clear. I've just taken each idea I've seen on this and tried to apply it in my brain to the society I know and enforcement would be an issue.

I'd have to think on this quite a bit to get something worked out. But I think it would have to do with resource and distribution disparities.

Capitalism has been fuel for advancement in specific areas many that have incidentally and nearly coincidentally benefited humanity. However, public money has far and away provided the most good.

The NIH grant system is responsible for almost every new medicine. Energy subsidies built and now sustain Tesla. The Post Office has carried Amazon and basically every major retailer with delivery e-commerce system on their back and the backbone of the internet is public as well though the last mile is privatized.

I believe I would pass a law that open sources advancements that are built on initial public investment. That would be things like insulin for example, radio and cellphones, the internet.

There is a place for corporate profit of course we haven't reached a point where some capitalism isn't necessary but I think a more equitable knowledge share would be a huge push for the advancement of humanity.

@thisgenericnamehere there would probably be a surge in small businesses

@RedRogue Exactly! And that's where I believe the engine of advancement truly lives. Resources available but no science by committee. Oversight maybe, we don't want physics PhDs building nukes and their garage of course. 🤣

But so many advancements can be made by stopping the gatekeepers.

@thisgenericnamehere It may not always work out but at least the little guy gets a fighting chance

I'd pick the voting rights act.

@Stopmakingsense how would you change it?

@RedRogue LoL! I'd reinstate it.

For any new law to be passed 5 laws and 10 regulations and 15 bureaucrats must be eliminated.
