I Like Learning New Words

People are saying that Trump has again made up a new word, Foisted but it’s really not new. I checked.

@nowic2 Every time I hear one of his speeches from now on I will remember this post and the reply's. ☺️

@SimplyTracie Someone is, if they're saying he actually said "foisted". 🙂
Foist (verb) impose by fraud

and if anyone knows fraud...…..
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Threepio Ohhh I thought it was something else. 🤭
@SimplyTracie I thought that is what it meant, but I actually looked it up just to make sure.

I have only heard it used once or twice in my 60+ years....
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Threepio Ohhh okay. You’re probably right.
Oster1 · M
*Forced, fraudulent.

@softspokenman Hahahah 🤭
Pfuzylogic · M
Can you use it in a sentence relating to the Impeachment?
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Pfuzylogic Okay. I’m not sure it makes any sense though. 😝
“Trump feels like he’s being foisted by the Democrats during the impeachment inquiry.”
Pfuzylogic · M
@SimplyTracie
He must use that in the first person also then as in “they foisted me roughly!”
dommagic · M
He said foistered, that isn’t a word
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@dommagic Ohhhhh. Close enough for Trump. We can’t expect miracles in just three years.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
Foisted on your own petard is an old expression.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@SimplyTracie Achmed the Dead Terrorist can testify to that.
nowic2 · 61-69, M
@SimplyTracie petard
[pɪˈtɑːd]

NOUN
historical
a small bomb made of a metal or wooden box filled with powder, used to blast down a door or to make a hole in a wall.
a kind of firework that explodes with a sharp report.
In this context it means more about being caught out by your own mistake or foolishness.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@nowic2 Ahhhh A kind is fireworks? I’ve done that.
EnigmaticGeek · 61-69, M
Those people have SVS (Small Vocabulary Syndrome). 🙄
@EnigmaticGeek 🤔 Yea, Trump does have that, must be from all the Covefefe.
EnigmaticGeek · 61-69, M
@softspokenman Trump wouldn't've accused himself of making up a word he used.
@EnigmaticGeek NAaa, he couldn't've.

SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
