People often choose other languages over Japanese, because other languages are often more handy to know in life, and a LOT easier.

うれしい！誰も返事しないと思った！吃驚した！but thats true most languages other than Japanese will be more useful in the long run and European languages are easier to learn for americans but oh well　日本語が大好きだ。
