I wrote a song in French; while in France [I Speak French]
French has many cognates with English words... table (taaabulll) is (tab. blu) in French; just a different pronunciation.
Sunflower is tournesol...turn e sol...turn to the SUN. I learned this while riding the TJV from Lyon to Marseille. Beautiful "champs des tournesols", Fields of Sunflowers.
I wrote the song but haven't recorded it yet. Should. Tres Francais in the feel of the melody as well. I can hear it recorded with accordian!
France is a beautiful place and French is a hard but beautiful and very diplomatic language.
I have sung in many languages. But French is the only other language in which I have written a complete song. I love French composers: Gounod, Faure, Polenc. and singers, Edith Piaf. I love the movies that are placed in France: Ratatouille, Midnight in Paris (must see) and Amelie. (R rated... such a GOOD story; with subtitles) and Life is Beautiful (warning; hard movie to watch; so good).
Such a wonderful post and incredibly beautiful photos. The Sunflower farm is amazing and so well cared for.You seem like a very talented and life experienced lady of fine culture. I enjoyed seeing this. My Mother was French and from Metz.😊🌻
@Oster1 The pics are lovely; I did not take these though. I have my own but not online. There are so many sunflower fields in France and Spain that I know of that are industrial; for seed, oil, etc...I just love them. I have ancestors from all over France. Close to Nancy, Bordeaux, Normandy...French Huguenots that immigrated to the US in the 1600s. LeVan is the last name. Bon soir!!!
Have you seen "Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis"? If not, watch it. It's soo great. Really it's the spirit of France in 90 lighthearted minutes. Oh and I don't see French as a hard language.
