I Am Learning French

I am learning French in my university besides doing PhD. It's a 2 yr diploma course. It's going to be almost 1yr and till now I can't say a thing in French. My teacher says everything in French and I can't get a word he is saying. He doesn't care to explain in English. Now I don't know what to do. B'coz of my research work I can't give enough time to my French course. I think I'll flunk my French xam the next year.. :(
