t. The tattoo in the image contains Chinese characters:
忠 (zhōng) – loyalty, devotion, faithfulness
孝 (xiào) – filial piety, respect and devotion to one’s parents/elders
Together, 忠孝 (zhōngxiào) is a traditional Confucian concept meaning:
• Loyalty and filial piety
• Being a good subject/citizen (loyal to ruler or country) and a good child (respectful to parents).
It’s a value that emphasizes duty to both family and society.
👉 In English, you could translate this tattoo as “Loyalty and Filial Piety” or more simply “Loyal and Respectful to Parents/Elders.”

@DoubleRings ? I see three characters/groups, and I'm not seeing the ones AI "sees" in those three, or even as, say, that lowest combination character.

@HoeBag Good point! Yes, this image is particularly poor. I tried it and did a tiny bit of image manipulation, but one can't easily recreate the stroke pattern from such a grainy image.
Even clear pictures don't always yield helpful results.

@SomeMichGuy One thing that @luvonablock might try is taking that image to a chinese restaurant or business and seeing if they could make heads or tails of it.
I know that sounds like a smart 4ss response but that would be the best place to find people who know the language.

@HoeBag Good idea--and that could avoid the problem of getting a tattoo which actually does NOT say what you've been told.
