To people of a foreign country I have a foreign accent, if they understand English I have an English accent. I'm not sure if people from other countries can pick up different accents of English people. I know that I can't tell the difference between a southern French person or a northern French person. And Americans all sound the same to me and I also can't tell the difference between an American or a Canadian. That's not being ignorant its because I come from a different country. Now I can tell the difference between a Northern English, Southern English and Scottish, Welsh or Irish because i'm British. But a foreign person might not. I know London and cockney, scouser or New castle accents. I'm from Oxford, when I lived there I didn't notice an accent. Now I've moved half way across the country some Oxford people sound as posh as shit.

True, but perhaps this group allows people to discuss their various accents and those they admire. Saves having to try to make a group for each individual accent out there that exists. 😉
