Everyone has an accent, but we tend not to think we do when surrounded by people with much the same accent. We notice visitors and incomers to our locality not because they have an accent, but because theirs differs from ours.

Our Mam still had traces of her native English Midlands accent, particularly noticeable on the 'phone, until the end; despite my parents having moved the 200 miles from there to Southern England more than fifty years previously.

I am noticeably a native of Southern England by voice to my friends even further North; but I am told by fellow S. English I do sound slightly Northern. That is from my parents' accent and some influence from those friends 300 miles away up in Yorkshire. (MIdlands and Northern English accents are generically somewhat similar, but still cover a very wide range of regional voices and dialects.)
