Forgive us. In the Midwest we don’t get too many Southern transplants compared to East coast so it’s a bit exotic.

I like southern accents.

Same here actually. I was born in Atlanta, Georgia and we moved to South Carolina when I was 7. Everyone said the same about me. Lol It's funny.

@SW-User it really is

@Haley I know right? They act like it's the greatest thing on earth, when I'm sure being in the South they hear it almost every day from everyone else.. 🤣

I was around it all my life but I never sounded "southern". Being from Florida in a tourist town I met a lot of people that asked me where I was from. They were amazed when I said I was local.

Supposedly we all end up with the accent of the region we were living in when we turn 18. I don't believe that and I forgot where I read it anyway. A little drawl is sort of cute.

I have always wondered, do you "hear" your accent?

SW-User

My oldest sister has such a drawl it's unbelievable.

My mother actually took elocution classes to get rid of her accent before my siblings and I were even born so we never had one (our father doesn’t have a strong accent). But her brothers still have strong Southeast Louisiana drawls. It’s funny hearing them.
