I was born in Alabama before we moved to Michigan and so I talk with an accent and my teachers think it is "so cute" ... you'd think I have a British accent or something. They go on and on about it 🤣
@Haley I know right? They act like it's the greatest thing on earth, when I'm sure being in the South they hear it almost every day from everyone else.. 🤣
I was around it all my life but I never sounded "southern". Being from Florida in a tourist town I met a lot of people that asked me where I was from. They were amazed when I said I was local.
Supposedly we all end up with the accent of the region we were living in when we turn 18. I don't believe that and I forgot where I read it anyway. A little drawl is sort of cute.
My mother actually took elocution classes to get rid of her accent before my siblings and I were even born so we never had one (our father doesn’t have a strong accent). But her brothers still have strong Southeast Louisiana drawls. It’s funny hearing them.
