What does "round up my total" mean ?

”I once had the pleasure of having this regular customer who was the most… grumpy nice person I had e
ver met. I know some older Scottish ladies can be eccentric, but even to this day, I can’t figure her out. At first, you’d be shocked at her attitude, but as you got used to it, you kinda… leaned into it.

A regular interaction would go like this.

Customer: *Paying at the end of a transaction* “And I suppose you’ll be wanting me to round up my total for charity or some crap like that?”

What does "round up my total" mean here? Thank you.

Oh they round up the change to the nearest dollar and take it for charity

@YoMomma Thank you. Anyone else?

@corta24 the stores usually do it.. like if something was 1.50$ or 1.80$ or whatever they round it up to the next dollar and keep the change "for charity"
So they charge an extra dollar and keep the change instead of giving it to the customer
