I think it depends on your native language. A different alphabet makes it instantly 10x as hard.

@Moon3624 nah, I have no reason to cuss at Moroccans. They're much cooler than most native Dutch people.

@NerdyPotato then maybes it’s a Spanish thing I have no idea

Anyways
I usually would only need to use Dutch at Amsterdam international airport
So maybe sentences or words that will help me in the airport
Yeah they speak English but knowing their language would be cool

I’m learning Japanese. It’s the only other language I’ve tried learning, so it’s kinda hard to compare it to anything.
It’s fun, but can be easy to lose motivation at times.

what textbooks did you work though?
the three white and orange genkibooks used to be the most common
and the classic path was the older or newer Yale books by Jorden.
I think you burn through 24 weeks of grammar first
and then go into the characters with semester 2 or 3 - 12 or 24 weeks into things
flashcards might help a lot with motivation

I have an uninformed opinion, Japanese or Mandarin. But I'm English (Canadian) and have basic skills in French and a little Spanish. Both French and Spanish have more in common to English than either Japanese or Mandarin.

all of them
I think the Foreign Languages Institute would grade languages as how easy or difficult they were
and they did courses for government people, and books and tapes and stuff for the universities and bookstores too
I had one friend who did Japanese, and they were into go books, and they said they did 2 semesters and they felt fluent, and went through with a third semester of Japanese
so they could get tons out of 24 or 36 weeks of intense stuff, and never stressed about reading go books again in Japanese or English.
one thing I hear is NOT to take Japanese and Chinese at the same time
get through most of one course first
