can you speak the language of the origin of your last name?

i cannot... mine is italian.

I kept my exhusbands last name. No I can't speak polish
@AlchemyFox ironically i just had polish sausages....and my grandmother was polish.

@AlchemyFox i agree...now when i think of it my grandma was closer to german but with a polish last name. she was born in gdansk which at that time was kind of a free state until after the war became a permanent city of poland...they either spoke german or polish then. they were german speaking. she took my dad and his sister and fled in 44 and were refugees in germany....times were messed up back then

@beermeplease That's a lot like what my exes family went through. His dad was born in Germany at camp but the family fled to America. It was super messed up. But they were tough as nails and cherished their family.
@AlchemyFox yep.... when my dad met my mom (austrian) they wanted to move to the states before me and my brother were born... for some reason things took too long to get things processed so they decided on canada. my dad once told me they wanted to go to philly for some reason....lol i would be an eagle and flyer fan....thanks canada for making me not 🤣
