Mugin16 · 46-50, M
@SW-User Very droll ;-)
SW-User
@Mugin16 HAHAHA Je suis juste drôle 🙃
@SW-User Pretty. My language sounds harsh... like the Vikings.
Mugin16 · 46-50, M
@SW-User Are you bilingual?
Mugin16 · 46-50, M
@JustGoneNow @SW-User The Vikings arrived in Canada before the French or the English.
@Mugin16 I know.
@Mugin16 We went everywhere. It’s cold and harsh were we lived.
Mugin16 · 46-50, M
@JustGoneNow So you went from Scandinavia to Iceland, Greenland, Russia and North America, where it is even colder and harsher. ;-)
@Mugin16 yeah, but they might’ve had things we wanted to take.
@Mugin16 We like other people stuff.
Mugin16 · 46-50, M
@JustGoneNow Plunder was far better in England, France (Normandy!) and even Italy than in Iceland, Greenland or North America.
@Mugin16 Sometimes we wanted land or to build a Port. It wasn’t always gold.
@Mugin16 But we always wanted something.
Mugin16 · 46-50, M
@JustGoneNow Yes, some Vikings settled in Ireland, England, Scotland, Normandy and even Sicily. And in Russia they even created the first Russian state.
@Mugin16 Yeah. My Mom is Norse/Gael from Ireland north of Dublin. So she’s part Viking too. I get it from both sides.
Mugin16 · 46-50, M
@JustGoneNow I was in Dublin last year. They have a museum dedicated to the Vikings there.
@Mugin16 I didn’t know that. Mom came to the US as a teen too but she doesn’t talk about Ireland much.
@Mugin16 And she doesn’t ever speak Gaelic. She only speaks English.
Mugin16 · 46-50, M
@JustGoneNow If you are ever in Dublin, go to the Emigration Museum. It is a fantastic experience. The museum tells the story of the Irish emigrating or fleeing their island for all kinds of reasons over the centuries.
@Mugin16 That would be super interesting. I know many left during the potato famine but I know a lot less about my Mom’s side than my Dad’s side. Viking talk is fun. ✌️
Mugin16 · 46-50, M
@JustGoneNow The first emigrants were Christian monks who spread the Gospel in continental Europe. One of them walked from Ireland to Switzerland!
