I Study Languages On Duolingo

I tried duolingo, Im trying to learn Chinese, I hated it, I cant read the language and it asks me to pick the right written word thats too difficult on the first lesson, all i remember is ren and its written like this 人, I think its fine for a few very simple things but I would not rely on it, and the Chinese say that some of the lessons are very outdated and they do not distinguish weather its formal or informal language.
