Honestly, i consider you fam from sw. I never understood the hate. Maybe because i have been around a lot of jewish people and jewish people are just people. Some are bad and others are truly amazing. Just like anybody. It's wild i have been to catholic churches and been told by people, even priests that i smelled like a jew. Whatever that means. I have been called a jew a few times like it was an insult..The irony is that i dont even practice nor follow Judaism. I was raised catholic. I just happen to have a Hebrew last name but the stupidity make me want to convert a lot of the times. Stay safe my friend, im always wishing you happiness and peace.
@empanadas So, you're just a regular boring white person like me? 😂

@MsSwan naw im latino, but i sephardic blood. I have two great grandparents who were jewish but my family assimilated to catholicism and didn't pass down the traditions
@empanadas You smell like a Jew ? So you smell amazing ?
That's a new one ...

I'll always be your Aunty prippy ! I'll cheer for you and be on your side ! I want the best for you like I'd want for anyone I value and care about . I don't care if your Catholic or whatever ! You're good people! You matter and You are important and have purpose !

There are many Jews who converted to Catholicism because of the stigma still associated with being Jewish . Even today ...it's crazy ! I denied my Jewish heritage too for a long time because of that ...but as I grew up.I stopped caring about what others thought. I'm proud of my heritage and where my ancestors are from . Tough Eastern European stock !
I'm raising my son to be proud of his heritage too and he is ...
@empanadas My Sephardic Jewish brethern all up in here ...

@pripyatamusementpark yeah, that comment about the smell was weird. Legit still pisses me off thinking about it. Also I used to get called jewgo because my name is Hugo but they would just put the Jew in front of the go. I remember always being the only Latino without a Portuguese, Spanish or french last name growing up. So I was always somewhat othered.

Thank you! I don't see myself converting to be honest. I feel guilty because of what the Jews dealt with in Europe compared to my family that converted and I'm too mixed. However I am proud of this part of me. Learning my background and the struggles my family that converted had to face, makes me proud to have my last name. Even converting they still kept a part of them. I will see if I can revive some traditions. I know my family used to bake a type of bread that I found out had some Sephardic origins. It's the least I can do to honor my last name and it's roots.

Keep being you. Who cares what people think, I see you as a person first than a Jew second.
@empanadas That's amazing ! You do what feels right for you . Nothing wrong with mixing it up with traditions ..make it your own ...You should be proud of your heritage and how far you and your family have come .
