@AthrillatheHunt I lived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for 28 months in the early 1980s and visited Türkiye, Jordan, and Pakistan. No problems whatsoever.

I’ve been to Morocco Egypt Jordan Future Palestine Albania Maldives Indonesia . The call to prayer alone at like 5 am is enough to get pissed off at Islam. Lol. (JK)

I actually lived in several apartment buildings and two hotels around town. I went all over town without any problems whatsoever. There were no compounds involved. The interesting thing is that I was totally illiterate in Arabic but never had any problems traveling or doing business.
Were you able to visit the Hagia Sophia? It's amazing.

@Diotrephes I was in Istanbul on the one year anniversary of the attempted coup (that Erdogon waged against himself. Lol).
Subways were free. So I travelled from Europe to Asia in 5 minutes for free ! Lol
