I Have Legitimate Concerns About Islam And That's Not Bigotry

I'm seriously confused about apologists always saying things like "It's not the religion, but the people". Is it suddenly better to hate people than an ideology, something non-material?

OK. So when some Christian freak goes off we should blame Christianity as it's CLEARLY an ideology of violence. Got it.

@Ynotisay Christians are not taught to hate Anyone - the teaching isn’t hate . Now if a Christian falls short and hates , that’s on them . The Bible itself is not about hate -

@Emosaur Well, yeah. That's what happens to "freaks" driven by any ideology. So what you're saying is we should be focused on ending organized religion because it serves as a violent motivator for some. Fair enough.

@Simplicity1119 Christians are indeed taught how to hate. Discuss marriage equality and see how quickly they whip out Leviticus. They don’t read anything else from it, either.

@bijouxbroussard I am fully aware what the Old Testament reads clearly . The old covenant . Take a look at the New Testament and be sure to read the Bible as a whole - don’t just pull out some who random old testement chapter . Have u read it front to back ?

@Simplicity1119 I have to disagree a bit. Islam doesn't teach hate either. But if a Muslim falls short and hates it's somehow different? And sorry but I could lay out a dozen issues right now where the hate coming from Christians towards those of different beliefs or lifestyles is very evident.
@Simplicity1119 I’m not someone who tosses it at people to make a point, because I’m no longer a Christian. Many are taught to hate and don’t see it until they are away from that dogma.

@suzie1960 yes and
Still do!

@Ynotisay Christian views don’t match up with worlds ideas - so that’s called hate because we don’t agree with something ? Interesting how that gets turned around . I don’t habe to support things I’m against- doesn’t make me a hater . Jeeez don’t even go there
@Simplicity1119 It’s okay to not agree with something, and to live one’s life a certain way. But the people who knock on the doors of strangers to proselytize or those who specifically campaigned to keep consenting adults (strangers, not of one’s faith, btw) from being able to marry, were doing more than that.

@Simplicity1119 "We?" Are you speaking for all Christians? I sure wouldn't. There's a whole lot of "bad" in that "we." Your call though.

@Simplicity1119 Try keeping an open mind when you read the bible. If you read it with the preconceived idea that everything attributed to "god" is good (such as wiping out all life on Earth), you won't be able to comprehend it properly.

@Emosaur Well, that's why I'm an atheist. I don't need made-up fables to control me and group-think is the last thing I want in my life.
