Argentina 3-0 Algeria! Algeria lost the game but that is not really of concern to me. I always been against investing in football
But before this loss, one of the players was harassed by Argentina fans for weeks on social media for using the expression "Incha allah"..They called him a terrorist and all sorts of things.
Inchaallah means by "the will of god" and it is more of a cultural expression these days than a religious one. You all know how much I dislike it because it justifies laziness. It is something people say these days to avoid taking responsibility or being honest for their unwillingness to commit to a shared agreement..just blame it on God not willing it.
That bothers me to no end.
But discrimination bothers me even more. Just two words and the hatred and the discrimination was out in millions.
I wish Muslims were smart enough to take this opportunity and use the words as an act of resistance and maybe even reclaim their true meaning and depth. Free it from their own failures first.
Something else stands out during these times. When I go to the city around this time, pretty much everyone is asleep.. despite the prayer call being around 4.00 a.m

Football apparently is more important than Allah.
