Sure, I can take the backseat and let you drive. That would serve me personally. But I already know where that got us socially. You had ample opportunities and you ruined it. It is not about who is more capable, it is about who is more willing to make the sacrifices and invest their capabilities for the betterment of both.
You can be richer and cheaper than me. So I spend more money than you do in charity.
You can be smarter but lazier than me..So I advance faster... etc

Fun fact. Most islamic scholars could barely reach 70% of their credit requirements to graduate. That is why they could only choose Islamic studies. It doesn't require the same credit as other fields.
And that alone explains a lot.
