Is it considered gossiping?

So for starters I don’t like gossiping at all it is not allowed in my religion, and when people start talking badly about someone I don’t agree with them and I say oh I love this person they’re nice instead of agreeing to their negative comments am I considered a gossiper for not telling them to stop talking? Please answer me I don’t want to be considered a sinner
