Is it true that Ayat.e.Karima (Dua of Prophet Yunus a.s or Jonah p.b.u.h) really 'Jalali' (full of wrath and striking awe/fear) and should be avoided
Assalamualaikum everyone which means peace from Almighty God be on all of you
Todays post is about the Eastern myth of claiming the Supplication/Dua of Yunus a.s or Jonah peace be upon him when he was trapped in the belly of the whale which is
(La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin)
لَّاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡتَ سُبۡحٰنَكَ ۖ اِنِّىۡ كُنۡتُ مِنَ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ in Arabic 'Jalali'(full of wrath/striking awe)
Let us see the truth of this 'myth' or this 'created false claim' in the authentic Light of the Glorious Quran which is unquestionably the Most Authentic Source and the Holy book of Islam.
Starting with بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ which means
(With the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful)
Surah/ Chapter Anbiya 21 Verse 87
And [mention] the man of the fish [i.e., Jonah], when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darknesses, "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers." (Al-Anbiya [21] : 87)
Explanation: The verse in the Qur’an states that he was in “darknesses” as in layers of darkness, the first being night, second being buried deep within the ocean waters, and the third darkness was suffocating inside the belly of the whale. It is in this darkness he cried out to Allah,
“There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.” (21:87) We’re told because of the fact Prophet Yunus (as) used to constantly remember and worship Allah, that he built a lot of goodwill. Now, when he needed Allah’s help the most, Allah responded to it with (continuing in the next verse, Chapter 21 verse 88 in the Quran )
(With the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful)
“So We accepted and rescued him from grief. And thus do We rescue the believers.” (21:88) H
HADITH ON DUA (Supplication) of PROPHET YUNUS or Prophet JONAH peace be upon him
Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Sa`d narrated from his father, from Sa`d that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“The supplication of Dhun-Nun (Prophet Yunus p.b.u.h) when he supplicated, while in the belly of the whale was: ‘There is none worthy of worship except You, Glory to You, Indeed, I have been of the transgressors. (La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin)’ So indeed, no Muslim man supplicates with it for anything, ever, except Allah responds to him.”
Sahih (Authentic)
Jami at-Tirmidhi 3505
So, in the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him says that, if a Muslim makes this Dua/Supplication for anything, it will never be rejected by Allah or God the Almighty Creator.
I hope this false myth is cleared now.
