I Am Enjoying Being A Muslim

I learned that I should always consider my intellect to be lacking; otherwise too much faith in it surely leads to error.

Knowledge is in three things: the Quran, the Sunnah, and to say "I do not know". The first step in knowledge is to listen, then to be quiet and attentive, then to preserve it, then to put into practice, and then to spread it.

We must learn to be quiet just as we learn to talk, because if talking guides us, being quiet protects us. By being quiet we attain two characteristics: we are able to take knowledge from those more knowledgeable than us and we are able to repel the ignorance of those more ignorant than us. Knowledge without intelligence is like having shoes with no feet, and intelligence without knowledge is like having feet with no shoes.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
"The cure of ignorance is to question."
... just as long as one doesn't question The Prophet, I bet!

@walabby How do you think people accepted him at the beginning? They asked questions and found their answers.
walabby · 61-69, M
... and those that got the wrong answers got their heads cut off... :(

@walabby It seems that you haven't read history well sir.
walabby · 61-69, M
@Madeleine Unfortunately I have. The prophet was only peaceful to his followers. Jews had to pay a Jew tax. Christians did get some concessions in the beginning. The rest had to convert or die...

@walabby If the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was only peaceful to his people, then why did he forgave the disbelievers of Mecca when he conquered it? The Jews and Christians used to pay jizya in exchange of protection. In other words, Muslims would protect the Jews and Christians when enemies attack. Plus, they don't have to fight with the Muslims. And jizya itself was only taken from males who are in military age; so the elderly, women, children, the poor and men of religion, such as rabies and priests, didn't have to pay jizya. Even the fee of jizya is less than the fee of zakat which is what Muslims have to pay.

@Madeleine How can anyone possibly be a "peaceful conqueror"...????
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@walabby It's historically documented, he entered Mecca and announced that anyone who is inside his/her house will not be harmed, and anyone who doesn't carry a weapon will not be harmed. He entered Mecca without shed of blood. And said to the disbelievers of Mecca, "Go, you are free".
walabby · 61-69, M
@Madeleine Well that's great. He just stole their homes instead of murdering them...
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@walabby Sir, if you read history well, you would know that the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was from Mecca, it's his hometown. He had to leave because the disbelievers were planning to murder him, along with his followers, they all ran for their lives and left all their properties behind, which what the disbelievers took over.
walabby · 61-69, M
@Madeleine Then, most of the spread of Islam was by military conquest. They were nearly as bad as the Christians...
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@walabby Nope, it's not true. There are many Muslim majority countries where Muslims army never went to.
walabby · 61-69, M
@Madeleine Could you tell me which ones please?
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@walabby Indonesia contains the biggest population of Muslims.
walabby · 61-69, M
@Madeleine Yes it does, Islam being brought there by traders, I believe... What other countries?
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@walabby Malaysia, many parts of Africa and Islam is still growing in the west.
walabby · 61-69, M
@Madeleine It's growing in the West due to migration, mainly.
What do you think of Islamic terrorists hijacking your religion, and turning public opinion so much against it?
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@walabby I think statics say otherwise sir. There are many European and American people who accept Islam in the west. I disagree with the term "Islamic terrorist" because there's nothing Islamic in murdering innocent people. It's just how the media brainwashes the masses.
walabby · 61-69, M
@Madeleine If someone shouts an Islamic slogan as he blows himself up in a crowd, or starts shooting people, or drives a vehicle into a crowd, then he/she is an Islamic terrorist in the eyes of the public, even if other Muslims don't think so.
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@walabby Regardless of what someone would shout before committing a crime, it would still be a crime. There are groups that would use religion to justify their crimes, so people instead of pointing fingers at them, they would point their fingers against the religion itself.
walabby · 61-69, M
@Madeleine Why aren't Muslim leaders more outspoken in distancing themselves from these terrorists, then. There has been some anti-terrorist commentary, but not much, and only after there has been severe public outcry...
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@walabby What do you mean by Muslim leaders? If you are talking about shaikhs and imams, there are many of them who spoke publicly against it. The thing is.. the media doesn't cover their statements.
walabby · 61-69, M
@Madeleine ... then they need to have paid advertisements in all media possible. If they don't get on top of this it won't end well...
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@walabby The truth will always win. I'm a truth seeker and I don't depend my knowledge on the media.
walabby · 61-69, M
@Madeleine I'm not worried about you. I'm concerned about the public backlash from the general public when they finally get sick of being murdered in the name of Islam.
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@walabby Crimes are done for all different reasons, I think we should be worried about humanity at large, regardless of who is killed and who's doing the killing.
