I have always found butterflies to be completely repulsive insects

And that they are colorful and have patterns on their wings does not make them more endearing to me. In fact it just makes them even more horrifying.

In my eyes those patterns and colors are like not just a killer but a killer dressed as a clown.

And in fact if you examine them closely they really are just moths. In fact moths are more tolerable because they aren't colorful and obscene.
