Has A Bug Ever Crawled Into Your Ear While You Are Sleeping?

I woke up about 5 a.m. feeling a sound on my ear like my ear needed to pop from pressure. Weird feeling that would come & go. I put my finger in my ear to see if that would help and it kept happening. So I got up and got a cotton swab and dipped it into rubbing alcohol and stuck it in my ear & swirled it around. Had a tiny little ant on it.

We’ve had rain so often this past couple of weeks that all kinds of bugs are getting inside, mostly earwigs but also sugar ants and sometimes flies, swatted a mosquito on me inside the house yesterday too.

@AbbeyRhode I was so glad it wasn’t a buzzing bug. I knew someone that happened to and the buzzing about drove her nuts. They had to take her to the ER to kill it. They were at an archery range by the lake and everyone was cleaning up the branches and other debris so they could start practicing again. There were wood roaches that were getting disturbed when they were cleaning and one flew up on her and got in her ear canal.

@AbbeyRhode I knew someone who was an army medic in the Vietnam War. They had to fly to a location to pick up a soldier with a bug in his ear. He said it took 4 men to pick him up and get him loaded up, I think they had to strapped down his arms. He was going nuts due to the buzzing on his eardrum. I’m glad that I read about putting alcohol in the ear for bugs, it kills them quickly but if it’s a big bug it needs to be flushed out after it dies.

@AbbeyRhode If they had poured a little rubbing alcohol in his ear they could have taken care of it at the location and not had to transport him.
