I feel bad about killing antlions.

You know, those bugs that look like giant mosquitoes? I think that’s what they’re called. They’re docile, they don’t sting, they’re not even loud. But they do fly around and sometimes land on you when you’re trying to sleep. And every time for about the last week I open the door to let the dog out to do his business before bed at night, at least one of them flies in the instant the door cracks open. Tonight I heard one buzz frantically just before I squished it with toilet paper, poor thing. What else can I do?

I'd feel bad about killing one, too. I would get one of the plastic cups I have designated for capturing insects, and one of the stiff paper or plastic flat things I save for that purpose. There aren't many insects I haven't been able to catch and put outside with those...when they are too big for the bug vac.

Those guys eat mosquitoes so best not to kill them. They're crane flys or called mosquito hawks where I come from.
