Should I be weirded out that a complete stranger I met online wants to know what state I live in?

lulove · 18-21, F
I think the state you live in is super vague. I don’t think that’s too weird. If they’re asking city, that’s pushing it.

I don’t think it’s weird at all, what is someone going to do with that knowledge? I think they’re just making conversation.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
Not really. It's not much different than asking a European which country they live in. Doesn't really give away much.
Applepiedom · 56-60, M

I wouldn't overly worry about it. It's not like you are saying what town you live in or are giving out your address. States are pretty big.
