I Remember Life Before the Internet

I remember the first time I think I ever actually came into contact with the whole "internet" thing as something other than just a buzzword. In year 1 we were meant to do a project on the Romans, and I had gone to the library scouting out various books on them in order to do the research because we didn't have a computer.
Then, on the day of the hand-in, the teacher ended up having a loud and fairly easy to overhear conversation with one of the other students. Said student had blatantly printed off an entire Wikipedia page, including the hyperlinks, and had been banking on the idea that nobody could possibly notice that it read like it was written by someone three times his age (or notice the hyperlinks, or know what the internet, Wikipedia was).
To be fair, the chances of anyone knowing what Wikipedia was was quite slim really. It'd only been running a few months at the time.
And that, folks, is the first time I saw the world wide web.

Are you lying about your age here? Something doesn't add up.

Let's not throw around the word "lying" but there is a discrepancy!

Nope, I'm 21 so just about skimming the edge of the 18-21 age range. I would have been about six when this memory happened. We only really got a computer in our house when I was about eight, and I only really used it for playing games most of the time, or finding walkthroughs for said games. Really the internet only really started being a thing for me from about age 11 onwards. I was more into books for finding things out.

Almost all of my life was before the Internet. But I am very pleased that it happened when it did.
