@Sharingm: I still have my Realistic 40 channel CB. Kept it as a keepsake from that era.
Sharingm · 56-60, M
Are you kidding does it work?
RealMustangGuy · 61-69, MVIP
@Sharingm: I don't really know. I suppose it does. I haven't had it out of the box I stored it in for probably 20 years.

Lol I never used CB radio, but I recall this song. Thanks for thinking of me. Sam Elliot would have done a great job with the voice, but it's still good as it is. 😊

Thanks, Carrissmi, and you're welcome. 10-4 (meaning yes to this voice too).

It was the 70's and I believe after we celebrated our 200-year anniversary things began going down a slippery slope with laws that gradually took away rights and gave police the right to stop and ticket people, such as the seat belt laws....started out with "protecting children" and carseats.

@cherokeepatti, 10-4 and how things were so different then. In many ways a simpler time, and certainly a time with much more freedom and personal responsibility.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@RealMustangGuy: It was simpler, not a bunch of damn petty laws to complicate life. I remember when people didn't have to buy permits to have a cat and dog in this city, they could have a garage sale and sell off their unwanted items without having to buy a permit (and risk not making much because of that extra expense), you could do a little babysitting without having to get a day-care license, etc.

I used to date a guy who had CB, and I have a couple online friends still involved with them and in a club, lol. God, it's amazing at much things have changed since my youth. Good song!:)

10-4 Ravenwind. That was a long time ago, and younger people probably can't fathom what that era was like. As for your online friends having them I didn't even realize that anyone still used them today. I'm glad that some still do.
ravenwind43 · 51-55, F
Oh yea, I imagine there are still clubs scattered across the U.S. People remember and they want to hang onto it. It's like my postcard collection. It's a long dead hobby but I still enjoy it and do it, lol.

Since 1900; planes. trains and automobiles, (to steal a phrase ) radio, telephone, computers, etc. and in just the next 50yr's ... ? 8)
RealMustangGuy · 61-69, MVIP
I can't even comprehend what the next 50 years will bring in the way of changes, softspokenman. Not sure I will be ready either.

Good thing no Mustangs were harmed in the making of that video. 😬
Perhaps for those who don't know the lingo, this video will be a little helpful for all the bear talk. :D

Thanks hami, very good to have all those definitions. And never hurts to listen to a good Jerry Reed song either. 🚛🚔
HeavenBesideYou · 56-60, F
We used to play with these as young teens. :)
RealMustangGuy · 61-69, MVIP
Yes, I remember doing the same. And I remember riding bikes and talking to each other using CB lingo while we were riding around.
Jakey75 · 61-69, M

RealMustangGuy · 61-69, MVIP
Thanks, jakey, I'll catch you on the flip-flop.

RealMustangGuy · 61-69, MVIP
Thanks, sweetpea, 10-4 and Mustang out.

@Stereoguy: True about the range of shortwaves, but something about CB's and that era that shortwaves will never have or equal. CB's truly were a social phenomenon and were like the social media of their era perhaps.
