I Remember Life Before the Internet

I honestly like my generation. Grew up without the internet and all of its social pressures. Made it through my teenage years still using encyclopedias and handwriting class notes to pass in class. I started college with a word processor and using the card catalog at the library and finished college with my first email address and depending on my laptop. I feel I kind of had the best of both worlds. All of the social interactions we miss and feel are lacking today but started my professional life becoming tech savvy and very knowledgeable.

At 72, I certainly remember life before the internet, and the pre-internet as well- that was dial-up connections to CompuServe and Genie and USENET and numerous online "bulletin boards" in the 1980s. All done by phone often with long-distant charges. No pictures- just text. And we thought that was amazing technology at the time.
