did the internet used to be better

back in the mid 2000s from 2001 to 2014, we had a lot of interesting sites on the net back then, the internet felt free and unrestricted, there was so many download sites and download software, i remember piratebay and limewire too, also i remember warez...i think the internet was so much better back then....now the internet feels restricted, censored and controlled by big tech.
