@diane1949, It sounds like it was a good experience for you. I like the idea of talking for awhile before actually meeting in person. Thanks for the advice. I agree, it's best to be honest about what you want. The good thing is I know who I am and what I am looking for. I'll have to take a chance and see if it works for me, too. It sure beats meeting some drunk guy at a bar!

The one reason I think it worked for me was because I was very honest about who I was on my profile. 56 yr old middle aged woman with all that entails..lol Big family which means everything to me. Three over protective sons!! Not looking to get married again but would enjoy, dinner, movies, etc. I think you have to lay out exactly what you are looking for. He was looking for the same thing. I can say We emailed and then talked on the phone and it was almost 3 months before we met at a diner, during the day with lots of people around. I think you should give it a try @newgirl 😄

Ecactly. I had the same reason for going online, I didn't want to go to bars. I think if you are careful like I was it can be a good experience.

Worked well for me 10 years ago but it's not for everyone I agree.

I have met people online that I would date, and I have met a couple men that I did date. But, I've never done the actual online dating websites. I'm thinking about it though. I've heard good and bad about it. Two of my friends met their husband, but countless others had horrible experiences. I think I prefer it to meeting someone at a bar, though. That's just not me.

You might want to rethink that. I now have the world's best wife as a result of an eHarmony contact many years ago. No way could I have been happier with the results.

I used Match.com. but it was 10 years ago. Still with him and he was my first meet lol
