Do you know what a real VNC connection is?

Do you use it at work?

Yes. It's styled RealVNC. Haven't used any VNC implementation for a very long time but VNC was extremely useful at times. I think the implementations I used most often were TightVNC and UltraVNC.

I use that hideous thing to access remotely a Mac.

The dinosaurs in the Triassic had more modern and better functioning protocols

Do you have a specific use case and how it would apply to you?

@Northwest I was just curious if people here know what it is. Ive been helped thru/with it before.

@Mindful

In this case, it's straight forward. Someone, for instance a customer support agent, sends you a software package that you need to click on to install, and provide some answers (to make sure you agree to having a third party remotely access your computer system or data.)

This is called the remote server part.

The customer support person) uses the client software on their system, to remotely connect to your system. Once you agree, they will see on their screen exactly what you're seeing on your and they have total control.

At this point they will user click on buttons themselves or help you by showing you.

When the problem is resolved, they will ask you to uninstall the server software and explain how to do it.
