If your dad called you his little flower, you wouldn’t think he is calling you his little white powdery substance, because cultural usage makes the meaning clear. The same applies here, pusillanimous and pussy are nothing more than a happenstance of sound. The two words have nothing to do with each other. Pusillanimous has no cultural connection to the slang usage of pussy.
