is the dead internet theory true

the idea that the majority of the population have quit the internet and it is now just overrun with AI and bots ...could this be true or just a load of codswallop?

i rely on the net to be honest, because i live alone and don't have a big support system, so i mainly use facebook, youtube and here, and now more than ever i am noticing more and more bot/ AI activity on all sites.

It seems to be at least coming true. More and more all I see are bots on sites. It appears even this one, as small as it is also experiencing "the creep". I know people who have quit the Internet and people who have also no interest in social media. There really isn't even much left of the Internet anymore. I would leave if it weren't for the edu sites. That's grown and everything else has either shrunken or disappeared entirely.

Wow, that is quite a theory! But I don't know anyone who has quit the internet. No doubt there is more AI stuff than before, but there is a large human population too.

Not yet, but it's heading in that direction. Twitter/X has to be at least 80% bots talking to each other by now.
