have a lot of sites been censored or shut down or is it just me

i've been online since 2005 when i got my first desktop computer, and now i can't seem to find the sites i remember and liked back then, and i wondered whether the internet is being censored or has those sites been shut down?

why can't i find the search results and websites i used to find/discover? i am from the uk.

Many websites are now hidden ... it's been this way for a number of years, with numbers steadily increasing annually.

Indeed the Internet is being censored in also more than just this way. It is what it is.

Websites come and go. The owners pass on, change direction, or stop paying fees to the hosting service. All sorts of reasons.
