has anyone heard of this ' online id verification' happening on youtube and other sites in the uk

and what are you going to do about it? what do you know about it? to be honest, as a long time youtube user, i don't know what i'll do about it when it happens to me or i see the message.

Not been a problem at all. No change noticed.

My favourite Hot and Steamy site seems unaffected.

Old steam trains don't seem to worry the authorities, but they can be addictive to young children.

The IT bods at my work are telling the rest of us a VPN is the answer, apparently you can fool the site into thinking youre from another country.

Most YouTube is suitable for all ages so you probably wont see the ID there. Bigger issue is if you consume real adult content - porn etc.

Doesn't impact as I don't view adult stuff but seems like a silly policy if it's that easy to get around. Fair to assume most people who view porn don't want to identify themselves!
