Yahoo Answers was definitely not a free and no holds barred place. Well, it 'kind of' used to be, before they sold and everything was changed.
Way back when, you could ask a question on Yahoo Answers, get an answer and be able to leave a comment. Typically what I would do is, ask question, get answer, and then be able to respond back using the comment area. They then took that away completely because they saw it as "chatting" and Yahoo Answers is a Q & A only site.
SW has coined itself as the Yahoo Answers replacement, and it sure does a better job I think. If any place is free (as far as being able to make posts anytime you want) SW it definitely that place.
