Public Service Announcement

Twice in the past week, I received texts that my Amazon or PayPal accounts were restricted, including a link where the issue could be resolved.

Neither was legit.

Just sayin'.

I have been hit with a rash of email spam with similar messaging as well as notifying me of all the things I have "won". A marked increase in the past month or so.

Robo calls on the phone as well. It is as if someone flipped a switch and said "lets pull out all the stops now."
@bowman81 I find it hilarious they're trying to rip ME off.

Like a jewel thief breaking into a chicken house. 😂😂
My mom got the PayPal one.
She freaked out.
Called the number
Gave them all her information and access to her computer.
😑
She doesn’t have a PayPal account.

Paypal seems to be a favorite amongst scammers. There's a scam that sends emails out that really look to be legitmately from Paypal. But if you look real close you see the logo is not exactly the same. They tell you there's aproblem with your account and to resubmit your credit card info. I was born at night, but not last night.

I received the bogus Amazon warning a few months ago. But as the message was sent to an email address that I have never used with Amazon, it was clearly fake.

And even if the email had gone to the right address, the simple way to check is to log onto Amazon directly, and not by replying to the suspicious message. I did that, and not surprisingly, all was well.

I got one of these this week.
Didn't fall for it.
@Moxymoxy Neither did I. But it LOOKS official. They're getting better.

I got 3 in less than 2 weeks 😱

i get hundreds of them every month
Yes ! That’s one of the first things I discovered, about “phishing” expeditions. So many times they’re badly done, too, with obvious misspellings.
@bijouxbroussard These were well done. Just lies.
