My best friend back East called me last night to report she'd been on the state treasury unclaimed property site, entered my name, and found 11 items.

I contacted the Treasury this morning and one of the claims is over $1800. They're sending me forms.

I'D never have thought of this and maybe you wouldn't either.

Check out your state's unclaimed property site. You never know.

About 10 years ago we received $6 in unclaimed monies from Missouri's unclaimed property custodian. I believe it may have been the Secretary of State's office. I don't remember exactly why, but it was like the left over drippings when a mortgage company went bankrupt and someone probably figured that we may have paid too much in closing cost when we closed out our mortgage with that company. When the State of Missouri, or any other state, wants to give you money they say is your's, there's no point in asking "why?".
