Every day this happens...

In the crib, I have signs above each row that says what parts are down that row.

I have a map that says where each type of part is.

We have computers to look parts up.

Parts are in alphabetical order by type of part from Accumulator to Washers.

There are yellow tags on each rack saying what parts are in that exact rack.

I am here to help them find something.

Every day, the guys come in here, wander around, looking lost, going from parts in the Circuit Breakers, then to the Valves and everywhere in between. Never look at the signs. Never look at the map. Never go to the computers. Never look at the actual racks. I'm sitting here watching them for at least 5 minutes just meandering around.

I don't know how much more I can do to get these guys to actually figure out where their parts are.

How the hell do men survive the world at large when they can't even find a simple clamp when they have at least 6 things to help them?!

Every day, I ask this question and feel awful for their wives.

It makes me wonder if having eventually found the parts they need, they succeed in fitting them correctly!

Is you inventory in noun-adjective-adjective style, as used by the military among others? (E.g. "Accummulators, lead-acid, 12V", or "Washers, M10, Stainless-steel".) Or would that fox these men more!

A few years ago my neice and her husband bought a flat-packed, large, garden shed. Neice's Dad (my brother-in-law) took charge but rather impetuously, not systematically, so the two men ended up bodging the thing together.

Meanwhile, my sister told me, she and daughter assembled a flat-packed bookshelf kit. They opened the boxes carefully, read the instructions, identified all the parts, arranged them neatly on the floor, starting assembling the kit... The shelves went together easily and properly, just as they should!

......

figure out where their parts are
Where their brains are, perhaps?
